About Compress PDF
Compress PDF helps you shrink large PDF files before sending, uploading, or saving them. It can process one file or several files in the same task, then shows the original and compressed sizes so you can see the result clearly. The compression runs locally in your browser, so your PDFs stay on your device and are not uploaded to a server.
About Settings
Smaller file uses stronger compression for easier sharing. Balanced is the recommended choice for everyday PDFs. Better quality keeps more visual detail when readability is important. Maximum compression is useful when you need the smallest possible file for an upload limit. Remove metadata removes editable document information where possible, such as title, author, subject, keywords, creator, and producer fields.
How to use Compress PDF?
Choose one or more PDF files from your device, or drag them into the upload area. Your files stay in your browser during processing.
Choose Smaller file, Balanced, Better quality, or Maximum compression depending on whether size or detail matters more.
Keep Remove metadata turned on if you want to remove editable document information where possible before creating the new PDF.
Click Process, wait for the compression to finish, then download one compressed PDF or a ZIP file when several PDFs are processed.
Compress PDF FAQs
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. The compression runs locally in your browser. Your PDF files are not uploaded to a remote server.
Will the compressed PDF keep selectable text?
The tool is designed to preserve the PDF structure, text, and layout while reducing file size. Very complex PDFs may still behave differently after optimization.
Which compression level should I use?
Balanced is the best starting point for most files. Use Better quality for important documents, Smaller file for easy sharing, and Maximum compression when you need to meet a strict file size limit.
Why did my PDF not get smaller?
Some PDFs are already optimized, very small, encrypted, or made from images that are already compressed. In those cases, the final file may be only slightly smaller, the same size, or occasionally larger.
Can I compress multiple PDFs at once?
Yes. Add several PDF files, process them together, and download the compressed results as a ZIP file.
What should I do if compression fails?
Remove the failed file and try again, or open it in another PDF viewer to check whether it is encrypted, damaged, or unusually complex.
How to Select Files?
Click Choose Files, or drag and drop files into the upload area to add them.
Remove any selected file before uploading if it was added by mistake.
After selecting files, you can view each file's size and page count.
The upload area shows the total number of selected files and the combined file size.
File Selection FAQs

The button may be disabled if no file is selected, the file format is not supported, the file size exceeds the limit, or the selected files exceed the maximum allowed number.
Can I select multiple files at once?
Yes, if this tool supports multiple files. You can select or drag multiple files into the tool, up to the maximum file limit.
Can I remove a selected file?
Yes. You can remove any selected file before processing.
Can I add files by URL?
